The NOCoE TSMO Awards celebrate the TSMO strategies and tools that leverage existing infrastructure to increase safety and reliability. Each year, NOCoE awards winners in four award categories and one Overall Winner chosen from those four categories.

Winners are celebrated at an industry event and their work is featured via NOCoE's partners and other industry leaders.

Most award submissions are also turned into NOCoE Case Studies, which form a library of TSMO strategies, tactics, and best practices that can be shared with other TSMO practitioners and organizations.

Nominations are Open for 2025 America’s Transportation Awards (ATA)

The competition started in 2008 to recognize state DOTs and showcase the outstanding projects they deliver to enhance communities, making them better places to live, work, and play. Now in its 18th year, this program highlights the essential work state DOTs do to improve quality of life, drive economic development, implement innovative technologies, programs, and processes, and make communities safer. You can learn more about the competition at https://americastransportationawards.org/

This year, TransComm is charged with collecting stories regarding the success stories of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). As part of this initiative, we are now asking a question about how the IIJA impacted this project (did it move up in the pipeline due to increased federal investment, for example? Did the bump in federal funding enhance the project?). This is a great opportunity to share those stories – and hopefully win an award for your state DOT in the process.  We will be collecting these stories in other ways, but we thought we'd start with this competition.

Each state DOT may nominate up to four projects.Be sure that your nominations tell the story of how these projects improve the lives of community members, avoiding technical information. Additionally, please send AASHTO high quality photos and videos (though videos are not mandatory) when creating the nominations. We use these photos to better promote the projects on social media as well as showcase the winners at the regional awards and AASHTO annual meeting.
