Interim Managing Director, NOCoE
Last month, NOCoE held the 2nd TSMO Workforce Summit, convening industry leaders to discuss current workforce challenges facing the industry at both the professional and paraprofessional level. The summit also aimed to affirm work currently being done by the industry and to clarify areas that need more work from the first workforce development initiative.
NOCoE will be sharing workforce resources developed for the summit and knowledge captured during the summit itself. This week, we are releasing a case study titled, Best Practices in Workforce Development from Similar Industries. This case study lays out how the TSMO community can leverage and adapt noteworthy workforce development practices from other industries with similar challenges.
Also, going forward, the guidance provided during the summit will serve as a new foundation for how NOCoE will continue to advance the TSMO workforce. By addressing key areas, which include: diversity, equity, and inclusion, pre-employment training and education, and recruitment pipelines, NOCoE hopes to work with its partners to strengthen the TSMO workforce to meet the challenges of the 21st century transportation system. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
In the meantime, below is a link to our Workforce Development Resource Portal, including more information on the NOCoE TSMO Workforce Development Summits.
