Position Available: City of Fort Worth Texas Assistant Director Capital Delivery Division

The City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking an Assistant Director to lead the department’s Capital Delivery Division.

TheCapital Delivery Division has 85 positions and delivers annually over $90 million in capital projects.
The Capital Delivery Division is responsible for the majority of horizontal capital projects encompassing street, storm water and traffic improvements – managing the planning, design, construction and inspection. The Division encompasses the responsibilities of the City Engineer and is the lead in developing delivery procedures as well as defining specifications, codes and contracting requirements. Capital projects include new infrastructure as well as rehabilitation of exiting systems. The Division provides inspection services for City wide construction activities, material testing, and survey services. The Division is responsible for coordinating review of private development projects and the
acceptance of completed infrastructure.

The selected candidate must possess the ability to perform complex management, administrative, and fiscal functions such as:

• Capital program planning and management
• Project management,
• Policy and procedure development
• Value analysis and process re-engineering
• Alternative contracting techniques

The position is a member of the Department’s Senior Management Team,reporting to the Director and plays a vital role in shaping the City’s public works program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Additionally, the preferred candidate must have at least six (6) years of increasingly responsible administrative and management experience related to the management of capital delivery and experience working with design consultants, contractors and community groups. Candidates with a blend of progressive direct work experience in the public or private sectors would be most attractive in addition to individuals with CCM, PMP, LEED or PE credentials. Candidates should have knowledge of the operations, services and activities of a
comprehensive municipal transportation and public works department including: operations and analysis; principles and practices of program development and administration; management and administration of budgets; knowledge of modern management practices; and knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations relating to transportation and stormwater.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual compensation ranges from $95,471 to $157,528 and is determined based
