SSP Idea Sharing Network: Case Studies on Secondary Crashes

Start Date:

On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 1 PM to 3 PM EST, will host its twenty-second Safety Service Patrol Idea Sharing Network webinar. During this interactive session, SSP professionals will hear from patrol operators across the country on past or current studies taking place on secondary crashes.

"Secondary Crashes" are defined as the number of crashes beginning with the time of detection of the primary incident where the collision occurs either a) within the incident scene or b) within the queue, including the opposite direction, resulting from the original incident. The session will explore how patrols currently collect incident data on secondary crashes, how to clear incident scenes more quickly, and how to communicate more efficiently on scene to avoid secondary crashes.

We are actively seeking presenters for this session. If you have participated in a Secondary Crash Case Study and are interested in joining as a presenter in this webinar, please contact
