This webinar will focus on the workforce skills that support the future CV environment. Attendees will learn about the ITS JPO PCB’s CV Training and Education Plan. The Plan is proposed to connect people to training and educational opportunities that will lead certain students to developing CV knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the industry. The webinar will also introduce attendees to the Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) resources.

Agenda
Jocelyn Lewis will deliver an update on Booz Allen Hamilton’s current project for the ITS JPO PCB Program to develop a five year strategic CV Training and Education Plan to guide the PCB program in developing, delivering, and linking people to training and education opportunities needed to support deployment of CV applications and technologies. The Training and Education Plan includes a comprehensive CV competency framework. This framework enables priority CV audiences to identify and follow a customized learning path to obtain the CV knowledge, skills, and ability required for their role.
Jonathan Walker will present on the upcoming 2015 FHWA V2I Deployment Guidance and V2I products - several resources for decision-makers, planners, designers, and technical staff. State, regional, and local transportation agencies are likely to leverage existing ITS equipment in V2I deployments to reduce costs, increase safety and mobility applications (e.g., dynamic message signs, closed-circuit television cameras, vehicle detections stations, and existing traffic signal controllers). Therefore, the guidance and products are intended to assist transportation system owners/operators deploy V2I technology in terms of Federal-aid Highway program requirements and best practices.
Elaina Farnsworth will discuss how deploying and operating infrastructure-based systems to support connected vehicles will require a new awareness and understanding of these technologies. Implementing a certification program at the state and local DOT level will give professionals the base knowledge they need to do their jobs. This portion of the T3 presentation will describe how local and state departments of transportation can achieve certification and training for internal staff and constituents.

Mac Lister, Knowledge and Technology Transfer Program Manager, ITS Joint Program Office
Mac has over 35 years of experience in the field of information systems and has worked at the FHWA and the ITS Joint Program Office for the last fifteen years. He manages the PCB program which provides a variety of training venues about successful ITS implementation. His ITS areas of expertise are 511 technology/overall operations, the National ITS Architecture, ITS professional capacity building, Planning for Operations, and systems engineering. Mac provided training, outreach and technical support for the Operations Technical Service Team in the FHWA Resource Center prior to his current position. Mac is a certified instructor and a master trainer for National Highway Institute. He is also an instructor for the Consortium for ITS Education (CITE). Mac received the FHWA Administrators Award for Superior Achievement in 2007.

Joceyln Lewis, Project Manager, Booz Allen Hamilton
Joceyln Lewis is currently serving as the Project Manager for the CV Training and Education Five Year Plan under development for the ITS JPO PCB program. She has been with Booz Allen Hamilton for nine years where she leads cross-functional teams on assignments pertaining to organizational strategy, program improvement, and training initiatives across the transportation market. Joceyln holds a master of business administration and a master of public policy from the University of Maryland.
Jonathan Walker, Program Manager, FHWA, Office of Transportation Management, Office of Operations
Jonathan Walker has a major responsibility with the oversight of V2I deployment, on a national level, for the Office of Transportation Management. Jonathan received a M.S. in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. He serviced four years in the U.S Marine Corps as an electro-mechanical technician and is a licensed professional engineer in the States of MD, VA, and DC.
