Start Date:
-Summary:
The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will host a free webinar on the new features of the Trajectory Conversion Algorithm (TCA) Version 2 Software. This webinar provides an overview of the third build of the software, released cost-free and under open source license at www.itsforge.net. The objective of the TCA Version 2 software is to simulate the generation, capture, and transmission of vehicle-based data under a range of configurable messaging strategies, including the SAE J2735 Basic Safety Message (BSM).
Key new features of the software include:
- Emulation of vehicles generating international messages including Japan's ITS Spot message and the European Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM)
- Flexible user-defined latency and loss rates of message transmissions to roadside equipment
Background Information:
Connected vehicle research includes the assessment of alternative vehicle-to-infrastructure messaging mechanisms to support new mobility, safety, and environmental applications. TCA Version 2.3 software is available to the connected vehicle research and development community as an offline or real-time tool with either the VISSIM or PARAMICS traffic simulation models.
A minimum of four releases of the TCA tool are planned up to October 2015 (this webinar covers release 3 of 4). The TCA software development project is one of several related research and development activities within the Data Capture and Management (DCM) Program, which is in turn a part of the USDOT connected vehicle research effort considering mobile data communications in surface transportation to improve safety, mobility, and the environment.
This webinar is sponsored by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office of the USDOT.
