Talking TIM Webinar Series: December 2021

Overview

Talking TIM: In-Cab Incident Alerts for Commercial Vehicles

The Talking TIM webinar series, brought to you by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), provides a forum where TIM champions with any level of experience can exchange information about current practices, programs, and technologies. Presenters and topics for this webinar include:

  • Roger Straka, Operations Specialist with the Oklahoma TIM (OKTIM) Program and a Master TIM Trainer/Coordinator, will highlight features of the OKTIM Program and their coordination efforts with the State’s Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP).
  • John McKown, TForce freight driver and an America’s Road Team Captain for the American Trucking Associations will join Rebecca Brewster, American Transportation Research Institute President, to discuss in-cab incident alerts for trucks and commercial vehicles. Large trucks use a variety of in-cab information systems to aid drivers. These systems now alert drivers of incidents, dangerous traffic queues, roadway closures, and other important roadway information.
  • Yingyan Lou, PhD., Associate Professor at Arizona State University and Visiting Scholar with the FHWA Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory, will present an overview of the FHWA TIM benefit/cost tool and a current project to update the tool.

Paul Jodoin and Jim Austrich, FHWA Office of Operations, organize and moderate this webinar series hosted by the National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE). Please visit the FHWA sponsored Talking TIM webinar site to view previous topics in this webinar series.
