TRB’s Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) annual program announcement solicits funding proposals for the upcoming review cycles.  The announcement explains the IDEA programs, describes the types of eligible projects and their funding structures, suggests general areas for which IDEA proposals can be submitted, and provides guidelines and forms for submitting proposals.

The 2014 Annual Report provides a summary of the Transportation Research Board's (TRB's) programs and activities over the last year and an overview of the individual divisions within TRB. The mission of TRB is to provide leadership in transportation innovation and progress through research and information exchange, conducted within a setting that is objective, interdisciplinary, and multimodal.

TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has issued a request for proposals to develop and prepare a proposed Second Edition Highway Safety Manual (HSM). Proposals are due March 19, 2015.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx told the Transportation Research Board's annual meeting the nation needs to get beyond a short-term focus and repeated funding crises, to take a long-term view of how to prepare infrastructure for evolving demands that require action to head off problems in future decades.

The SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study Project Team has released an enhanced version of the SHRP 2 Safety Data website (called “InSight”). This data dissemination website features trip density maps that show the number of trips and participants that traversed roadways near the data collection sites, a new overview video that provides a quick walkthrough of website capability, and a new visual and cognitive tests dataset.

TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has issued a request for proposals to provide guidance for integrating the costs and benefits of integrating adaptation measures in preparation for extreme weather events and climate change. Proposals are due March 17, 2015.

The Federal Highway Administration and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials announced the opening of the latest applications process for assistance to help state agencies implement software and planning products offered through the Second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2).

This is the fifth round of implementation assistance, which can be in the form of monetary or technical support, and is available for four new SHRP2 products.

A group of state Department of Transportation chiefs warned that the current short-term extension of the highway Trust Fund is creating unusual problems for states planning their summer construction programs.
