The NOCoE TSMO Awards celebrate the TSMO strategies and tools that leverage existing infrastructure to increase safety and reliability. Each year, NOCoE awards winners in four TSMO Award categories. For 2025, the categories are:

Traffic Signal Systems, Arterial Management, and TSMO Peer Exchange Report
|
|
NOCoE hosted the Traffic Signal Systems, Arterial Management and TSMO Virtual Peer Exchange with the participation of transportation agency professionals experienced in developing and implementing plans, programs, policies, and projects in arterial management to support TSMO in their jurisdictions. This peer exchange benefited from experience shared from state DOTs, MPOs, and local agencies as well as researchers.

2026 FIFA World Cup Planning Workshop Report

This workshop was organized to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, focusing on transportation systems management and operations (TSMO) strategies to ensure safe and efficient mobility. The event featured presentations, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities, with speakers from various transportation and security agencies sharing their expertise and insights.

Planned Special Events Portal
|
|
This portal is dedicated to collecting planned special event resources. Resources come from the FHWA Event Management Team, NOCoE activities, agency case studies, and, where referenced, the Transportation Operations Manual.

Road Weather Management Portal
|
|
Road weather management (RWM) looks to better understand the safety and mobility impacts of weather on roadways and promote tools to mitigate those impacts.
This portal, developed by the FHWA RWM Program, collects resources and information about the practice of road weather management.
|

The Cape Fear Memorial Bridge (CFMB) Preservation Project enhances safety through increased law enforcement and quick incident clearance, vital for evacuations during hurricanes.
It minimizes traffic disruptions by optimizing detour routes and completing the project ahead of schedule, restoring normal traffic flow sooner. Cost-effective repairs at $7.1 million avoid a $437 million replacement and reduce future maintenance expenses.
The project supports the local economy by maintaining reliable access between New Hanover and Brunswick counties, crucial for commercial activities linked to the Port of Wilmington.

Impact on Public Safety of Recent 4.9 GHz Ruling
|

This webinar features a conversation on how states are using the 4.9 GHz frequency. Speakers from several states detail their use of the spectrum, including how it directly impacts safety for the traveling public.
The webinar also includes a discussion on impacts of the recent FCC ruling on the 4.9 GHz spectrum going forward. Speakers provide a brief history of the spectrum use and what the decision might mean to the DOTs who have existing 4.9 licenses and those who are planning on implementing 4.9 systems.

2025 ITE Virtual Spring Conference: Envisioning a Safer and More Resilient Future
