Workshop on Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture

Summary:

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is hosting the fourth in a series of interactive workshops to discuss and seek feedback on its Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture (CVRIA) efforts. The 3-day training workshop is designed to bring together state and local government stakeholders who are planning connected vehicle deployments, device manufacturers who need to know the overall scope of the architecture, researchers and academics, and standards developers. The workshop will be held from June 10 to 12, 2015, at Draper Laboratory in Kendall Square, steps from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the USDOT's Volpe Center, and the heart of Boston.

This training workshop will provide an opportunity for external stakeholders to review, provide feedback, and shape the CVRIA. The results from the workshop (i.e., information shared about the advancement of the CVRIA, interface analysis, and standardization development) will affect a variety of public and private organizations. Previous workshops led to the Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT) Version 1.1, which allows implementers and decision-makers to develop their own architectures for deployment.
 

The CVRIA is a consistent framework to guide the planning and deployment of connected vehicle technologies. The architecture identifies options for interoperable deployment of technologies from an enterprise, physical, logical, and communications perspective. It also facilitates the ability of jurisdictions to operate collaboratively and harness the benefits of a regional approach to transportation challenges.
