USDOT to Host an Intelligent Transportation Systems Career Session

Summary:

The USDOT is hosting a presentation for students during the Transportation Research Board's 2016 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. The session, titled "Intelligent Transportation Systems: Is It the Right Career Choice," will be held on Monday, January 11, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm (EST).

Students will gain insight on the current status of ITS and what they need to know as they prepare for their careers. The presentation will explore the:

  1. State of the practice and emerging developments in the field of ITS
  2. Interdisciplinary nature of ITS technology application in surface transportation systems spanning all modes of travel
  3. Exciting array of ITS career opportunities and the resources available for ITS career preparation
  4. Research challenges that must be addressed to achieve the vision for connected and automated vehicles.

This is a terrific opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students within civil engineering transportation programs (or other related fields) to prepare for the interdisciplinary nature of highways, transit, infrastructure, and other multimodal requirements within roadway systems.
