The course focuses on one of the most important traffic engineering units of measurement, travel time. Travel time is used to calibrate traffic signals, inform travelers of upcoming congestion, and even to allocate federal funding. The applications of travel time are numerous.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Define and calculate travel time and travel time reliability
• Recall available equipment and services for travel time measurement, and where each equipment/service type is best used
• Describe how travel time and travel time reliability is used in different aspects of transportation
• Apply travel time and travel time reliability into their work with the course’s specific applications
