Summary:

The Transportation Research Board is pleased to invite you to the Tenth SHRP 2 Safety Data Symposium on October 6, 2017, at the Keck Center of The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC.

The program is now available online, including information on the sessions and speakers. The day will include 5 sessions, 16 speakers, and ample time for discussion and interaction.

The Symposium will exhibit research studies that have been performed utilizing the SHRP 2 Naturalistic Driving Study data and the SHRP 2 Roadway Information Database, known together as the SHRP 2 Safety Data. The Symposium is a forum for the exchange of ideas about uses and methods for the SHRP 2 Safety Data among researchers and practitioners. We seek a diverse audience of attendees from academia, government, and industry who are well placed to shape and promote future research in transportation safety, big data, and beyond. Session topics will include the following:

  • Crash analyses and safety performance measures
  • Driver behavior and distraction
  • Roadway design and traffic engineering
  • Naturalistic data analysis tools and methods
  • Big data, data modeling, and machine vision
  • Implementation of results and countermeasures
  • and beyond.

The call for presentations is now closed.

This is an exciting chance to learn more about studies utilizing the Safety Data and to gain insight into future potential applications of the data. There will be numerous opportunities for researchers and practitioners to interact with the panelists and each other during the day and at the networking reception, which will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Attendance for the symposium is limited to 150 participants. Registration for the symposium is required for admission to the building, but there is no fee. A limited number of rooms will be available at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill at a special rate.
