Join the SafeHighways.org Safety Service Patrol (SSP) Idea Sharing Network for a virtual peer-to-peer discussion focused on SSP Lights & Sirens on Tuesday, October 13th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM Eastern Time. This interactive session will bring together SSP professionals from across the country to share experiences, policies, and lessons learned related to the use of emergency lighting and sirens on SSP vehicles.
The discussion will explore state laws and requirements, light colors and placement, certification and training, responder and motorist safety, visibility, and the benefits and challenges of operating with lights and sirens. Participants will also have an opportunity to discuss emerging lighting technologies, including UV lighting, and approaches to gaining agency and legislative support for changes to SSP lighting policies.
