Shared Mobility is the term used to describe the shared use of a vehicle, bicycle, or other mode. It is an innovative transportation strategy that enables users to gain access to transportation modes on an as-needed basis.
This free webinar will delve into the current practice of Shared Mobility services, by providing an overview of activity, challenges for local public agencies, and lessons learned. In addition, the role of the public sector will be discussed and some guiding principles identified to help support the shared mobility as a transportation service on our cities. T

The webinar will be based on recent work done by the Federal Highway Administration and feature three notable experts:
- Dr. Susan Shaheen, University of California at Berkeley;
- Timothy Papandreou, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency;
- Kathleen Garman, City of Kansas City, Missouri; and
- Wayne Berman, FHWA
Wayne Berman--Mr. Berman is a Transportation Specialist with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Operations. He is the Team Leader for the Organizing and Planning for Operations Team. In this position he is responsible for improving the coordination between planning and operations in order to advance transportation systems management and operations strategies and services, especially those utilizing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). He Mr. Berman is also responsible for initiating and implementing policies, plans, and programs that support and facilitate the application travel demand management programs, including Shared Mobility. In addition, he is responsible coordinating, initiating and implementing policies, plans, and programs that support and facilitate congestion pricing programs for Federal-aid highways. He has been with the FHWA for over 40 years and has held positions in their Offices of Planning, Traffic Operations, and Safety before his present position in the Office of Operations. Mr. Berman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with specialties in transportation planning and traffic engineering, from the University of Maryland. He is active in the Institute of Transportation Engineers, the Association for Commuter Transportation, and the Transportation Research Board.
