Summary:

This webinar is an overview of ITE's Proposed Recommended Practice: Guidelines for Determining Traffic Signal Change and Clearance Intervals.The webinar will summarize major sections of the report. The state of the practice and recent literature will be shared that led the identification of the preferred approach and the various parameters used in the methodology. The recommended practice will be described including key definitions, formula, parameters, parameter values and application guidance for through and turning movements.

  • Identify various methodological approaches to calculating yellow change and red clearance intervals.
  • Describe the underlying formulation of proposed recommended method.
  • Apply through example calculations the proposed recommended practice
  • Recognize the various factors and parameters and their effect on yellow change and red clearance intervals.
