Summary:

The Office of Safety invites you to attend a webinar on Michigan's Roadway Safety Partnerships: State, Local, and Academic Partners Collaborate to Advance Michigan's Roadway Safety Culture through the Use of a Data-Driven Approach. The 90-minute webinar will describe practices in Michigan that have contributed to the state's robust and comprehensive roadway safety data program.

Learning Objectives:

Presenters in the webinar will:

  • Provide background on the evolution of the state's data program;
  • Discuss Michigan's DOT's Local Safety Initiative, a technical assistance program that helps agencies analyze crash data and suggest countermeasures; and
  • Describe Roadsoft, a software tool developed by Michigan Technological University that enables local agencies to collect and maintain safety data while preserving local ownership and control.

Collectively, these practices have significantly improved local agencies' abilities to fund and implement data-driven roadway safety improvements.
