This webinar will present an overview of the MUTCD, including the purpose of the MUTCD and where it applies; what is uniformity and why it is important and how the MUTCD is organized and how to use it.

This Webinar will introduce - the science of traffic control devices;- what are and are not considered traffic control devices; how new devices get into the MUTCD and what makes a device effective or ineffective.

  •  Define the purpose and “theme” of the MUTCD.
  • identify what types of roads the MUTCD applies to.
  • Identify common practices to avoid because they can make a traffic control device ineffective.
  • Describe where to find the MUTCD and related resources.
