EJ Mitigation, Equity, and Public Transit on Priced Managed Lane Facilities Webinar

Start Date:

-

Summary:

This webinar is part of the FHWA webinar series entitled “Overcoming the Challenges of Congestion Pricing.” The webinar series is designed to offer technical support to state and local transportation agencies that are currently in the process of implementing or would like to implement congestion pricing; decision-makers/political leaders who want to better understand the benefits of congestion pricing; metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) that may be interested in incorporating pricing into their planning activities; and others who just want to learn more about congestion pricing strategies.

The webinar will last 90 minutes, with 60 minutes allocated for presentations, and 30 minutes for audience Q&A. Through the use of Web conferencing technology, participants can view the speakers’ presentations on their computer and hear the audio portion of the presentations either via the computer or telephone, depending on preference.

Traditionally, managed lanes and other congestion pricing programs have faced challenges in dealing with equity of use on facilities. Recent projects have implemented successful strategies in fair and equitable use of these systems across income levels, geographic regions, and multimodal users.

This webinar will cover Environmental Justice and equity focused activities on managed lanes, including an equity program with specific transit-related mitigation measure; mitigation with direct toll subsidy to specific affected groups; and creative responses to support transit when state legislation prevents highway revenues for transit. Many managed lanes operators are now addressing or reevaluating environmental justice issues whether by mandate or public opinion. Let us hear from successful programs that have been implemented, what issues they are currently dealing with and what issues are being looked at in the future.

Registration is limited to the first 500 participants. Once you register you will receive an email with login instructions.
