The Crowdsourcing for Advancing Operations program will host two breakout sessions and two additional events in the Exhibit Hall (open daily 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM ET). Come by, catch up with friends, play games, and learn how crowdsourcing can help your agency improve operations, investment planning, and more. Our FHWA, peer, and technical experts will offer visitors demos of real-time and archived cloud-based analytics dashboards, point individuals to open source code to jumpstart data applications, and field crowdsourcing-related questions. Dec 8 1:30 – 2:50 PM ET Breakout Session in Auditorium
The breakout session will feature presentations by the FHWA Crowdsourcing co-leads, Maine DOT, and Utah DOT. A question and answer segment will follow presentations.
Dec 8 3:10 PM ET Fireside Chat with Chris Lambert, Systems/IT Expert, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Exhibit Hall
Chris will share the story of how KYTC began evolving into a modern data management environment, integrating multiple crowdsourced and traditional data, and developing real-time analytics tools. Tools now support better Traffic Incident Management, Traveler Information, Work Zone Management, Road Weather Management, and other programs to save lives, improve travel reliability, and efficiently use agency resources.
Dec 8 3:40 PM ET Innovation Stage with James Colyar, FHWA Crowdsourcing Co-Lead, Exhibit Hall
James Colyar will highlight the innovation stages for crowdsourcing, a categorization of the capability maturity in the use of crowdsourced data for a specific application area (e.g., work zone management or project prioritization). James will provide examples of how agencies within the US have advanced from not implementing to development, demonstration, assessment, and institutionalized over the EDC-5 Crowdsourcing period. The broader Crowdsourcing National Team will then be available for one-on-one conversations to help identify the right “current” and end goal stage for your agency.
