Start Date:

-

Summary:

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) invites State public information and communications officers, Traffic Incident Management (TIM) professionals, and response community leaders to this second All States webinar to advance Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) planning. CRSW takes place November 14 to 18, 2022. CRSW affords a unique opportunity for every TIM professional to make a difference individually and jointly for incident responder and road user safety. To facilitate the sharing of CRSW ideas and strategies, FHWA is hosting three webinars. Visit the National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) CRSW webpage for a summary of the first webinar (May 11) or second webinar (July 13).

This third webinar features resources to advance driver education for Slow Down Move Over Law adherence as well as to mitigate distracted driving during CRSW and beyond. Presenters from our TIM community include:

  • Dawn Miller, Incident Operations Engineer, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). MDOT is pursuing continuing education credits for driver education instructors that take the TIM Responder Training course and has implemented collaborations that keep current TIM practices within the Department of Motor Vehicle licensing booklet.
  • Joel Feldman, End Distracted Driving (EndDD.org) EndDD offers interactive, scientifically guided, evidence-based distracted driving programs integrating health communication, behavioral change, and targeted persuasion principles.

During this webinar, the FHWA TIM team will share newly developed resources such as the 2022 CRSW flyer and social media toolkit. Jim Austrich, FHWA TIM Program Manager, will also conduct an abbreviated all-state roll call, requesting responder communities in each State to provide updates on their plans to commemorate the week. We kindly request highlights be limited to 1-2 minutes.

Be sure to register for the National Kickoff webinar for CRSW scheduled for November 14, 2022, from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. ET.
