Crowdsourcing turns transportation system users into real-time sensors on system performance, providing low-cost, high-quality data on traffic operations, roadway conditions, travel patterns, and more. This webinar will feature presentations on a variety of applications for traffic incident management (TIM) that make use of crowdsourced data. Applications include those both developed in-house and provided by third parties.

Juan Hernandez is a professional traffic operations engineer working with Nevada DOT. As Principal ITS Planning and Operation Manager, his team is responsible for managing ITS projects and programs including but not limited to: TIM, 511, FSP, Hazmat Emergency Response, ITS Architecture, ITS Strategic Deployment Plan, I-80 & I-15 Multistate Corridor Operations and Management Programs, Waycare, and TSMO.
John Parker, Pennsylvania Turnpike (Presentation: Early Warning Detection tool)
John Parker is a Traffic Operations Project Manager with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He is responsible for IT and GIS projects, as well as operational and safety studies. He participates in joint agency meetings with the Smart Belt Coalition and I-95 Coalition. Prior to joining the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, John worked at PennDOT for 17 years where he was responsible for the management of the Statewide Bridge Program and IT projects for the Program Center. He oversaw developing the 12-year TYP for all federal monies for the Commonwealth. John currently serves as a member of the Innovation Council for the PA Turnpike.
Ashley Buechter, Missouri Department of Transportation (Presentation: HAAS Alert and Make Way)
Ashley Buechter, P.E., works for the Missouri Department of Transportation in the Central Office Highway Safety & Traffic Division. She serves as a Traffic Liaison Engineer overseeing statewide initiatives for Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO). This includes management of freeways, arterials, work zones, and incident management. Ashley joined the Department of Transportation in June 2006 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia in May 2006. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
