Overview
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), in partnership with ITS America and the U.S. Department of Transportation, established the Day One Deployment District (DODD), an approximately one-square-mile V2X environment in downtown Atlanta built on 93 connected signalized intersections and LTE-V2X roadside units. Rather than a pilot, DODD represents a production-level V2X deployment demonstrating mature, deployable connected vehicle capabilities to an international audience. During the 2025 ITS World Congress, the district hosted more than 300 GDOT-specific ride-alongs and over 1,000 demonstration visits, and the model has since been adopted by FHWA and ITS America for future events, including 2028 ITS World Congress in Orlando.
