Colorado Truck Parking Information Management System Proposal

Mid-America Freight Coalition and the MAASTO Working Group OSOW Support for MAASTO Standing Committee on Highway Transport (SCOHT) and Motor Carier Committee (CMM)  
OSOW support for MAASTO Standing Committee on Highway Transport (SCOHT) and Motor Carrier Committee (MCC): The main objective of this study is to review parking facility information available for OSOW and general operators across the MAASTO states and provide a consolidated summary. As part of the study, an inventory of OSOW and general public parking locations across the MAASTO region was created focusing on locations near or at state lines.

A rest Area map can be found on the Getting Around Illinois Website. 

To get to the maps on the Getting Around Illinois Website you must do the following:

  1. Go to the Getting Around Illinois Website at https://www.gettingaroundillinois.com/
  2. Select the Rest Area map to view the Rest Areas & Welcome Centers in Illinois that are open  and closed  to the public.
    1. You can click on the open symbols to see more information about that Rest Area.

To get to the ITAP routings page you must do the following:

  1. Go to the ITAP home page at https://webapps.dot.illinois.gov/ITAP/
    1. If it is your first time on the site, a Logon and Password will need to be created.
    2. If you are returning to the site, Log in with your created Logon and Password. 
  2. Once logged in click on Order Permit Link (found in the left hand column) and the Permitting System Menu page will open up.
  3. Select Oversize/Overweight (OS/OW) Single or Round Trip from the Permitting System Menu and a list of available permit types will open up.
  4. Select Single or Round Trip Permits from the list of available permits and the Superload and Routine Permits application page will open up.
  5. Fill out the Superload and Routine Permits application page.
  6. Click on Get Route and the ITAP routing page will open up with the ITAP Routing Disclaimer.
  7. Accept the ITAP Routing Disclaimer to make it go away and open up the and the Icons on the right side of the ITAP Routing page
  8. Click on the hamburger icon  on the right hand side of the ITAP Routing page to open a list of various layers on the map.
  9. Select Additional Parking  from the list of various layers and additional Parking   will display on the ITAP Routing map.  
    1. You can click on the Parking symbols to see more information about that Parking Area. 
      • Most Parking Areas are inside Illinois

 

 

  • Some Parking Areas are just inside a bordering state to Illinois provided to us from the bordering state

 

 

  1. Turn off the Additional parking layer by clicking on it again and select Rest Areas  and the Rest Areas that are open  and closed  for truck parking will display on the ITAP Routing map.
    1. You can click on the open symbols to see more information about that Rest Area.

 

  1. You can click on the closed symbols to see more information about that Rest Area.

 

 

  1. Turn off the Rest Areas layer by clicking on it again and select Rest Areas  and the IDOT Weigh Scales that are open  and closed  will display on the ITAP Routing map.
    1. You can click on the open symbols to see more information about that Weigh Scale.

 

  1. You can click on the closed symbols to see more information about that Weigh Scale.
