Overview
In this project, the benefits regarding the following Intelligent Work Zone (IWZ) technologies were researched: queue warning systems, dynamic merge systems, alternate routes and variable speed limits in work zones. Details about recent related deployments of IWZ technologies were reported, as well. The purpose of the final report is to clarify and understand the collected information about the current work being done on IWZ activities. A more detailed breakdown of each of the 4 technologies is also provided, including successful examples, guidance as to when which technologies are most successful, and more.
