Road Weather Information System Environmental Sensor Station Siting Guidelines 2.0

Overview

This document is an updated version of the initial Guidelines, published in 2007 (FHWA-HOP-05-026). The majority of the document remains the same, with a few minor adjustments throughout the Guidelines. The one major change made was that of an updated data table, which now includes a standard set of metadata for ESS, which was developed as part of the Clarus project. This metadata is in three categories: required, recommended, and optional. The majority of the other changes made to the Guidelines were made to highlight areas of concern from State DOT's.
