Pennsylvania DOT Quick Clearance Best Practices Report

Overview

This document outlines the best practices for ensuring that the clearance of a traffic incident is done safely and as quickly as possible. The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the National Highway Cooperative Research Program (NCHRP) have identified certain practices that reduce the amount of delay caused by a crash or other incident, some of which are explored in this document. In addition, a few national best practices are included in the report, as well as steps pennsylvania will take in the future.
