Overview
The Oregon Metro's Transportation System Management and Operations (TSMO) Strategy aims to enhance the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the Portland metropolitan area's transportation network. Key objectives include providing reliable travel choices for all users and connecting people to essential goods, services, and destinations through various transportation options. The strategy's implementation is guided by TransPort, a committee comprising transportation systems engineers from agencies such as the Oregon Department of Transportation, TriMet, Metro, and local counties and cities. TransPort facilitates regional coordination, data management and sharing, safety enhancements, and the deployment of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). A notable aspect of the TSMO Strategy is its focus on eliminating disparities experienced by people of color and historically marginalized communities, reflecting a commitment to equity in transportation planning and operations.
