Overview
The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) is a compilation of national standards for all traffic control devices. It is used by road managers to install and maintain the correct traffic control devices on all public streets, highways, bikeways, and private roads open to public travel. The traffic control devices included in the manual include road markings, highway signs, and traffic signals. The manual is updated periodically, with the most recent update being published effective by June 2012.
