Delivering resources to save time, lives, and money

Intelligent Transportation Systems 2014: Volume 1

Overview

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2423 consists of nine papers that summarize the opportunities for intelligent transportation systems in the energy arena; effects of tactile location, pulse duration, and interpulse intervals on perceived urgency; review of variable speed limits and advisories; enhanced modeling of driver stop-or-run actions at a yellow light; and combinatorial auction to allocate traffic.

This issue also examines traveler use of and response to real-time traffic and traveler information; empirical evaluation of drivers’ route choice behavioral responses to social navigation; diagnosis and interpolation of loop detector data errors with probe vehicle data; and the development of a strategic plan for deployment of intelligent transportation system equipment.
