Highway Advisory Radio Best Practices and Future Direction

Overview

Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) had been in use since the 1970s as a tool for government organizations to report public information via radio. HAR is most often used by departments of transportation, to report about road conditions, construction, and other traffic conditions.

The purpose of this project was to help better understand how to pursue HAR technologies and approaches in the future. Two goals were laid out: 1) to help members understand how HAR is being used by transportation agencies today, 2) to help members understand the potential value of HAR, 3) to help members understand the current and potential future state of HAR technology practices.
