Florida DOT Open Roads Policy: Quick Clearance for Safety and Mobility

Overview

This is an agreement between the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) that establishes a policy for FHP and FDOT personnel to expedite the removal of a vehicle crash or incident from the roadways on the State Highway System to restore the safe and orderly flow of traffic to the area as quickly as possible.

The responsibilities of each agency are described within this agreement as well.

The ultimate goal is to clear all incidents within 90 minutes of the arrival of the first responding officer.
