Evaluation of Renton Ramp Meters on I-405

Overview

This document is a summary of a study done on a section of I-405, where ramp meters were implemented in 1999. The report includes visual aspects, such as charts and graphs, to lay out the data suggesting that the ramp meters aided in decreasing travel times in the morning, but not necessarily the afternoon. Data was collected both before the ramp meters were activated, and after, and the data was compared and analyzed to determine the best use of the ramp meters.
