Overview
TRB’s Transportation Research Record (TRR): Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2454 Energy, Climate Change, and Alternative Fuels 2014 consists of 13 papers that explore modeling regional transportation demand in China and the impacts of a national carbon policy; the effects of the built environment on gasoline consumption in a developing megacity; consumer choice of E85 denatured ethanol fuel blend; the economic and greenhouse gas impacts of a national low carbon fuel standard; and daily travel and carbon dioxide emissions from passenger transportation.
This TRR also summarizes the Oregon statewide 2050 vision for greenhouse gas emission reduction; charging behavior and its impacts on electric vehicle miles traveled; the impacts of charging infrastructure deployment on the feasibility of battery electric vehicles; and the financial viability and fueling costs of workplace charging.
In addition, this TRR examines optimizing the use of electric vehicles in a regional car rental fleet; ways to estimate energy consumption on the basis of microscopic driving parameters for electric vehicles; an assessment of level 1 and level 2 electric vehicle charging efficiencies; and a user equilibrium-based location model of rapid charging stations for electric vehicles with batteries that have different states of charge.
