Overview
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) focuses on Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) to enhance mobility, reliability, and efficiency within existing infrastructure. Key initiatives include Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), improved traffic signal coordination, and real-time traffic monitoring, exemplified by the NAVIGATOR system developed for the 1996 Olympics. In 2016, ARC conducted a TSMO Capability Maturity Model (CMM) assessment to refine regional strategies and expand local TSMO capabilities. ARC collaborates with the Georgia Department of Transportation to provide free access to statewide travel data for informed decision-making. The program is guided by the Regional Strategic TSMO Plan and updated ITS Architecture, ensuring a cohesive and data-driven approach to transportation management.
