Transportation Specialist, MUTCD Team, Office of Operations, Federal Highway Administration

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located in the Office of Operations, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Washington, D.C. The employee serves as a member of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Team and is responsible for initiating, developing, issuing, interpreting and managing regulations, standards, policies and guidelines for traffic control devices as well as their application on all roads open to public travel. The employee also initiates, develops, interprets, and applies legislative requirements and FHWA directives for the administration and support of traffic control devices. The ideal candidate is experienced in analyzing and recommending the use of traffic control devices, and understands how to apply the principles and practices from transportation planning and traffic safety to make recommendations on the proper use of traffic control devices.
