Decision Support Systems for TSM&O Webinar Follow-Up
By Steven Lavrenz, PhD, EIT

The February 29th webinar titled “Decision Support Systems for TSM&O – A Florida Case Study” provided participants a look at a recently released report on DSS from the Florida DOT (FDOT) and Florida International University (FIU). The report and webinar detailed the creation of a new web-based planning tool that integrates several existing FDOT ITS modules, and incorporated additional dashboard and TSM&O evaluation capabilities developed by FIU. The webinar was very well attended, with participants particularly interested in the web tool’s predictive and risk assessment capabilities, as well as its role in further integrating FDOT TSM&O & DSS interests with enterprise management goals.

Both FDOT and FIU presented on this report during the webinar. Dr. Mohammed Hadi, PE from the Lehman Center for Research at FIU was the Principal Investigator on the report, and was joined by Melissa Ackert, PE, a District TSM&O Engineer for FDOT who served as the DOT liaison & project manager. Let’s continue the interaction on this report via NOCoE’s discussion forum at transportationops.org.
