USDOT to Present at Several Upcoming Conferences

U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) staff members will speak at several upcoming conferences about the latest issues and developments related to intelligent transportation systems (ITS), including connected and automated vehicles and the impact of these exciting technologies on the future of transportation.

This week, several U.S. executives including DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Administrator Dr. Mark Rosekind, and NHTSA Associate Administrator Nat Beuse will speak at theAutomated Vehicle Symposium 2016. In addition, Kevin Dopart, ITS Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) Program Manager of Connected Vehicle Safety and Automation, will give an update on automated vehicle research at the ITS JPO, and Brian Cronin, Director of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Operations Research and Development, will present on the USDOT's Smart City Challenge.

At the Transportation Research Board's Conference on Use of Scenario Planning in Transportation Planning, Egan Smith, Managing Director of the ITS JPO, and Brian Cronin will present during a workshop held on Sunday, August 14. Sponsored by the FHWA, this "Scenario Planning and Autonomous/Connected Vehicles" workshop will highlight tools, resources, and materials covering a wide range of scenario planning techniques and uses.
