FTA’s Innovative Safety, Resiliency, and All-Hazards Emergency Response and Recovery Demonstration initiative is funding a wide range of innovative projects that will develop and showcase promising technologies, methods, practices, and techniques to improve the operational safety, infrastructure resilience, and all-hazards emergency response and recovery capacities of transit agencies.

In New Orleans, for example, it will help improve evacuation planning by better coordinating public transit and other transportation resources. In New Jersey, it will fund the development of an advanced real-time information system to forecast potential flooding risks from storm-surge events and allow the transit agency to protect people and equipment, while focusing personnel on the areas they’re needed most.
