N.C. Governor to Present States' Views on Transportation

Gov. Pat McCrory has told Congress the federal government must be a strong and reliable partner with North Carolina and other states to improve roads and other transportation infrastructure.

McCrory spoke Tuesday at a U.S. House Transportation Committee hearing considering the country's surface transportation needs before authorization for the federal Highway Trust Fund expires in May.

McCrory represented the National Governors Association, but also spoke about efforts in North Carolina to make road building more efficient, including the 2013 state law that reworked how projects are chosen. He said current North Carolina funding sources cover less than 20 percent of North Carolina's transportation needs for the next decade.
