Dennis Motiani joins NOCoE staff

Dennis Motiani, a well-known expert in transportation systems management and operations, will be Executive Director of the new National Operations Center of Excellence. The Center, which officially launches in January, is designed to provide transportation agencies with a centralized and comprehensive set of resources for TSM&O specialists. It is a collaborative effort of AASHTO, the Institute of Transportation Engineers and Intelligent Transportation Society of America, with support from the Federal Highway Administration.

A leader in transportation system management and operations, Motiani has more than 24 years of experience at the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), where he is now assistant commissioner for transportation systems management. In that role, he oversees strategy implementation to promote safe and reliable travel of both people and goods on New Jersey's highway system around the clock. At NJDOT, Motiani has also been responsible for helping put New Jersey in the forefront of transportation technology through deployment of advanced traffic signal systems, active traffic management systems and other operations strategies.

Among services the National Operations Center of Excellence will provide are best practice peer exchange webinars, national and regional summits, a dynamic web portal and on-call assistance to states and other organizations to identify best practice material and other resources for specific technical and policy issues.
