Target Audience: The target audience for the ITS: What, Why, and How WBT includes a wide variety of transportation professionals involved in managing or delivering transportation programs, projects, or plans. This training is best suited to entry-level to mid-level managers from state highway agencies, local agencies, regional transportation agencies, Tribal Governments, consultant firms, and FHWA field offices whose work includes or could include the use of ITS technologies. In addition to entry-level staff to mid-level managers, a mix of other professionals will benefit from the course including higher-level management and decision makers whose job necessitates knowledge and awareness of ITS applications, regulations, funding, and operations and maintenance considerations as well as an understanding of how ITS impacts programs, project, or plans. Entry level staff--even those who may not understand the transportation planning process or how a project is developed--could benefit from this course since context will be provided throughout to engage and connect real-world examples to recommended practice. University level (undergraduate and graduate) students interested in pursuing a transportation degree with a focus on ITS and emerging technologies will benefit from this course.
