Cooperative Automated Transportation (CAT) Session: Ongoing Activities, Challenges and Emerging Opportunities

This session provided an update on multiple ongoing efforts within AASHTO and partner organizations in the area of Cooperative Automated Transportation, including an executive panel discussion on how state and local governments, and industry entities are dealing with CAT systems. Additionally, updates were provided on:

  • Ongoing efforts aiming to develop a national strategy and a concept-of-operations for infrastructure readiness to support transportation automation,
  • Exploring the use of USDOT’s CARMA platform by states,
  • Release of Infrastructure-Owner-Operator (IOO) Guiding Principles for CAT technical memorandum,
  • CAT-Coalition ongoing activities and accomplishments, and
  • Scan of CAT systems deployments.
