Overview
This study provides the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) with a user analysis of the Iowa 511 Traveler Information System. The researchers assessed the Iowa 511 system using survey results and usage data. The system was evaluated by examining the trends in users, usage characteristics, and the use of competitors (e.g., traveler information systems from the private sector). The study resulted in a number of recommendations. Knowledge of how travelers utilize Iowa 511 will support short-term improvements and long-term programmatic decision making.
