-Summary:
This series is provided by a joint effort between the AASHTO Subcommittee on Transportation Systems Management and Operations (STSM&O)’s Performance Measures Technical Working Group (PMTWG) and the National Operations Center of Excellence.
Recognizing PM2 is a broad and complex topic, this webinar will focus on best practices in communicating TSM&O-specific measures to non-transportation stakeholders. TSM&O measures relate to the national performance goals of safety, congestion, reliability, and freight movement, and they may specifically address such things a fatal crashes, travel delay, or freight reliability. How we most effectively convey performance differs between an internal agency audience and external audiences, which includes elected officials, policy makers, media, and the public. We will emphasize open data, transparency, and accountability.
Learning Objectives:
The state of practice of performance measures and performance management in the TSM&O arena is highly variable, dynamic and evolving in the digital age, with new sources of data, applications for analysis, and business needs that can benefit with improved metrics. The PMTWG seeks to advance AASHTO members’ capacity through a robust exchange of experiences between agencies and their partners in the private sector and academia. Facilitation of this sort of exchange and learning will help accelerate the state of practice industry-wide.
