-Summary:
This webinar will provide a look at the fundamentals of the existing 5.9 GHz wireless band, and the state of practice with respect to connected and autonomous vehicle applications. Following this introductory segment, information will be presented on the FCC’s open comment period for proposed rulemaking on this spectrum. The FCC is currently facing pressure from various wireless and telecommunications industry groups to allow greater access to the 5.9 GHz band for non-transportation applications, and this webinar will give some context and information to support keeping the band restricted to dedicated short range communications (DSRC) and other transportation-based uses.
